Martin Elling was trained as an economist and after 11 years with United Nations and the Investment Centre of the World Bank, he joined the EBRD in London in 1992. During his 5 years there, he was, amongst others, responsible for agribusiness and special energy projects in Ukraine. He left the Bank in 1997 to concentrate on working in Ukraine and in 1999 he established First Lease/Hertz Lease in Ukraine. He was also involved in deals in the agribusiness, real estate and automotive sector. More recently, he has been collaborating with a major western bank to establish a new financial services company.
